We need the tonic of wildness... At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.
― Henry David Thoreau
There is something about the woods that conjures up romantic notions of girls in red visiting grannies with wolves at their heels. For centuries writers have been obsessed with woods, forests and bushland. From fairy tales and poetry to gothic horror and self-awakenings, forests are rich in literary references.
Katie Battersby’s Wild Wood Collection draws inspiration directly from nature.
It captures an ongoing enquiry into experimental fabrication techniques through printing, stitching and applique. It charts a new design path through a series of paintings translated into bespoke printed fabrics and knits.
The collection features hand painted lichen and leaves across custom printed silk shirting and scarves alongside sumptuous merino sweaters and dresses, wide legged corduroy trousers, pencil skirts, pussy bow blouses and utilitarian denim shirt dresses, perfect for adventures off the beaten path and into the wild.
Wild Wood is a collection in two parts; tran-seasonal pieces traversing both winter and spring. Goes well with Paul Weller and The Cure on vintage vinyl.
